Chirping

Hey guys I just got my '87 Z/28 running and was wondering if the tires chirping while shifting gears is a sign of a shift kit installed already or rebuild time? Please give me your advice. Thank You

Most likely shift kit. They shift sloppy when they are on the way out.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. You could have broken accumulator springs. This causes slamming shifts too. This is an easy fix. I would not overhaul unless you are somewhat sure it is all done.

also depends on ur plans for the car.. if its gonna see alot of abuse or some decent power down the road, a rebuild and converter is a great thing to do.
