Engine: 357 TPI

Transmission: 700R4

Axle/Gears: 3.42 Posi

Who's Correct about TC lockup?

That Transmission shop that put in my rebuilt 700R4 says that the converter locks up in 3rd. But from what I've reading on this forum it locks up in 4th. What's the truth?

Both. The stock ECM can command lockup in both 3rd and 4th gear. You can tweak the lock/unlock speeds, throttle position for lock/unlock, forced lockup MPH and probably some other parameters in the PROM.

Axle/Gears: 9-bolt w/ 3.23's

Lockup is allowed in all but first gear.
