150mph with 4.11's
Just messing around with my engine calculator and found out that with the overdrive the 700r4 offers, 150 mph is attainable with 4.11's and a redline of 5700 rpm(where mine is set). I figured I'm going to swap my rear gears anyways might as well go pretty steep.
The calculator shows a final drive of 2.87 in OD, and with 26" tires 150mph is redline top speed. The question is will it always rev super high before shifts or will regular shifting(under 3k) happen. I will be using the stock convertor and a trans-go shift kit that allows full manual shifting. Sounds like tons of tire-smoking fun with decent fuel economy(although it's not really a concern).

4.11`s with my 85Z, 7004 equipped ran around 2800 at 65MPH with a 9 inch 3,000 stall in OD....as for 150MPH with them...I`d be impressed
I run 11.20`s and went thru the traps at 7,800 w/4.11`s in third w/ 26 inch DR`s. I have went to 3.73 and I launch harder and faster with 26`s.
changing gears is a
I`d go 3.73 with 26`ers though....28`s... I`d do the 4.11`s in a heartbeat!

Getting to 150mph would take a lot longer with 4.1 than 2.73. Besides, getting to that speed takes a lot of horsepower. Not saying it isn't possible stock though.

Overall acceleration is quicker with the lower gears (lower gears are the numerically higher numbers).

i don't know how that would work because, correct me if i'm wrong, OD won't be able to engage if you're at WOT.

when my car was auto, it would upshift to OD at WOT. Trans was stock too.
