has anyone rebuilt a 93-97 t56? i was just curious how much people pay to get them rebuilt.

or how long do most t56 last? i know it has to do with the driving but what is your t56 at as far as mileage goes

 

I don't know about factory, but I put a rebuilt(by Liberty) in my '78 and have about 13000 hard miles on it behind my 383. It seems to be holding up ok, as far as the gears, but I think I may have a bad output support bearing. I love the trans though, ......can drive it like I stole it

 

hard question to answer all around, the life span depends on the driver honestly.

Hard parts in the tranny are expensive i.e. syncro's gears..

the wearable items arent too bad i.e. blocking rings..

just depends on what got ate up.

 

I did the rebuild and a partial on one I had. not too bad over all. but a bit tricky if you never did a trans rebuild before. much much harder than a t5

as far as life well.... them seem to do pretty good look at all the kids who think they can drive stick. they seem to take most of that abuse
