9" Ford users...need advise
Getting the moser 9 inch ready for spring, I need to know a few things before I buy the remaining componets....I have now a
Moser 9 inch housing with T/A bracket
31 spline axles with bearings pressed on
10.5 rear backing plates for iron calipers
used 3.5 ratio open center section
What I want to find out from you guys that have done this is,
A. What yoke will fit the stock driveshaft length? the yokes have different lengths and take different style u joints. Upon searching I found mixed results on this...what do you have in yours?
B. What posi or locker do you use and why?...also are you happy with it?
The set up uses the 10.5 rotors and early rear calipers...I have searched but no thread has made a clear postion on weather this is possible or not...can one use the front stock calipers in the rear position? Thanks for any advise you can give me

You will most likely need a longer driveshaft. The pinion flange on your center section is most likely made for a 1350 Spicer u-joint, if it came out of a truck, 1330 if from a car. A conversion u-joint may be needed if you end up using your stock drive shaft. I used drum brakes from an Caprice, so I don't know what is needed for the disc setup. Once installed, check your driveline angles, the pinion sits lower on Ford 9" so the tailshaft of the trans may need to be lowered to compensate. Be ready for some headaches, for it is not a easy bolt in & forget it deal. Most all the problems can be corrected with a little patience.

i ordered the complete 9in through moser..i re used my stock rear calipers but had to have the backing plates machined to hold the bearings into the 9in.. then i had the bearings pressed onto the 33 spline axles.. i run a detriot true trac locker with 4.30's..i wish i went with 4.56's.the locker is awesome though and makes so noise around turns... i ordered it with the 1350 yolk and had a conversion joint between the 1310 on my alum drive shaft to the 1350 on the rear

Thanks for the help guys, I have the backing plates all set I think, the holes are large enough to slip over the bearing and bolt up to the ford housing. I`ll try the to install front calipers on the rear plates once I get the center section in along with the axles. The drawing helps alot Thank you..and thanks for the info on the tru trac, I have been wondering about those...they look like they`d work like a torsen diff.
The input yoke of the center section...there are short ones and long ones which would you choose if you wanted to use a stock drive shaft length? (regaurdless of u joint yoke style i.e. 1330 1350) Also has anyone used a ford trac loc diff?

Maybe you already know, but if you're running a 9", you'll need to lower the sway bar to clear the housing. I bought some sway bar clamps from Spohn, and they seem to work great. Seems like you got the rest sorted out.
