I have a tci 700r4 w/small stall app.2200 problem is shifts too late.I have adjusted the tv cable and that helped but still need to shift sooner.called tci they sell a governor modification kit they said would work just wondering has anyone done this and how hard is it.

 

What are you shifting at?

 

I shift at around 5000 but trans doesnt shift until about 6000.the guy who installed set it at like 7000 .the 1st time i ran it at the track i know it went to almost 7500 .he obviously doesnt deal w/tpi cars too much.anyway the trans hits hard launches good just cant keep the pull

I have adjusted the tv cable and have it shifting at about 6000 now.I guesswhat i need to know is can i adjust the tv to shift at around 5000 and still have enough pressure not to hurt the trans.the instructions said if you adjust it too much it would shift soft and damage the trans.quickly.I called TCI and they told me to buy the governor mod kit I just want to know is it necessary or can I safely get it there with tv.Im just starting to race and know Im hooked trying to go fast as I can stock then mod it to the max .anyway thanks for your time.

 

When mine was stock it would shift right around 5K. So I would say yes,beacuse that is the stock setting. Give your local mechanic a call to be sure.

 

dude before you "adjust" the tv cable just know that all that preasure is needed to make the trans work well

Get the gov kit you can use the wieghts to change the wot shift points and the springs to control how close you want the shifts to be when you arent going so fast.

Dont ever listen to "adjust your tv cable because you are looking for trouble.
