PICs attached T5 swap question flywheel
I guess this would be a tech question.
Should I use this flywheel or not?
I have this flywheel and clutch disk pics
the flywheel surface area doesnt completely
cover the disk since the diameter is larger..

Pic of flywheel inside diameter
This is the flywheel inside diameter surface area
which is larger then the clutch disk area..

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Doesn't look to me like the right flywheel.
Looks like a 14" flywheel.
If it is, it won't fit in your bell housing anyway, so you won't really have to worry about the clutch friction dimensions.

If it's really 12.8" outer diameter, it should be OK, the little bit of clutch friction on the inside won't matter.

Thats what the seller said it shouldnt matter
but I dont want to bolt everything up and it slips
I really would like to see another flywheel first before
I decide what to do.
yeah this one isnt 14 inch

How does it fit the clutch plate? If it's a perfect fit I would be looking for another flywheel. Once you start getting some wear on the disc your going to have uneven wear on it that might cause some chatter engaging the clutch in first or reverse under normal conditions (street driving). Opinions anyone?

Clutch disk fits perfect with the pressure plate
pressure plate bolts up to the flywheel no problems there.
The surface area of the flywheel to clutch disk has
me worried seems to me that if anything the flywheel
suface should overlap the clutch disk not the other way
around.

I think the disc should fit exactly with no overlap. It looks like in your pic. you have a 3/4 in difference. that's 3/8 in of disc that's doing nothing! as your disc wears, it's going to build a lip on the flywheel side. One would think that might cause cracks and possibly chip off the disc (not good). Being the seller said "IT SHOULDN'T MAKE A DIFFERENCE" means their not sure but it will work. Yes it will, but how good and how long? Like you, I would do some more research before final installation just to be sure.
This topic isn't over and I'm sure you'll get more imput on this.
let's wait and see what other's have to say!

Transmission: super t-10 or t-5
Axle/Gears: auburn with 3.42 stock axles
i bought the same flywheel of ebay, i think it's for a two piece rms engine right? if that the one you got i didn't use cuz i sold the car but the guy i sold it to used it and it seems to work fine. but he's also use an aftermarket zoom that i sold him with the car. and if thats a stock clutch and i read you info right your 350 will probably kill it pretty quick

yeah I got that off ebay also and sent it back.
Its from AMS racing 2 piece they have another one that they say fits better but its 50 dollars more and weighs more also,
so I just might try the Gm lightweight flywheel.
I guess its a stock clutch disk from luk and valeo
I have 2 of them so if they dont hold up well Ill get a better one.
Looking forward to do the T5 swap just cant get all the
parts together yet.
