Wont shift from 2 to 3 under WOT?
Hey guys, my 700r4 will not shift into 4 when i have the throttle wide open. My car is an 88 with 350 and 3.42 gears. When I go WOT it will run up to 70 and the engine will just keep climbing in rpms, the highest I got was to 6000. When I let off it shifts fine. By the way it is a stock converter. Is something sticking or is it supposed to do that?
Thanks
Thanks

It is supposed to do that. Vettes and police cars have a different valve in the valve body that allows for the 3-4 upshift at wide open throttle.

you mean 2nd to 3rd right 700r4's 4th is overdrive. your unlucky some wont shift like your describing at wideopen throttle some will mine would everytime. i dont know what to tell you other than maybe adjust your cable.

On second thought, IBADROC must be right, it must be the 2 3 shift. Is this still caused by the same valve? I also forgot to mention that I have a bm shift kit in it as well. Also when I am going down the road about 40 or 50 and I go WOT the motor just revs and I dont feel the car want to go forward. It just feels like it is in neutral. Could this be caused by the same valve that you guys were talking about?

you or whoever installed the shift kit probably put the wrong springs in the wrong spots or something

im 99% certain that it is in right. I done the hardest shift and it replaced all the accumulator springs with spacers. It also replaces one spring inside the valve body with a spacer. So Im sure i didnt do anything like that. But I could be wrong.

i thought about that too. that could be a possibility. when I dont drive it aggressively it drives and shifts fine through all gears. I just dont know what it all could be. I have never driven a stock 700r4 before. Im not really sure what to expect out of one. If it were a check ball would it shift correct at all?
