1983 Firebird do 2.8 V6 and 305 V8 use same trans cross member?

Hi guys, I have a 1983 Firebird that I pulled a 2.8 V6, manual T5 trans out of. I have a 305 TPI with a 700R4 that are going in. I know the V8 has different motor mounts, but is the transmission cross member on this year F body the same V6 and V8? The V6 T5 and V8 305 driveshafts are identical in length, so I assume the transmission mount for both V6 and V8 will be in the exact same location. If the cross member is not the same, will all year 82-92 V8 cross members work? The cross member I have is just one piece. I just looked at a picture of a V8 cross member on Ebay and it looks the same as what I remember taking out (just from memory).

I think so.

Believe the 6 banger had the trans crossmemeber in the frt holes on the chasis and the v8 were on the back holes.

Might have it backwards, but I think thats how it goes.

all 700R4 and T-5 trans in 3rdgens V6 or V8 used the same crossmember mount point and all the crossmembers can all be interchanged. now i dont know about the 2004R for shure but it is different some how. so yeah a 700R4 will use the same mount as a T-5. the only things you should need to change to physicaly install the 305 where the V6 was is the engine mounts which from what i have heard is supposed to be a hell of a job. that just about exhausts my knowlage on this subject. Oh and the driveshafts are the same to.

I swapped in a 350 into a 84 burly . It had the 2.8 in it . All I needed was to swap the motor mounts

Thanks. The motor mounts look like you'd have to take the front LCA's off to get access for the motor mount nuts. Why the hell were these nuts not welded on from the factory so they don't spin when you try to remove the motor mounts? What I'm doing is grinding the heads off of the bolts and then welding the new mounts on with bolts used to locate the mount. I don't have time to mess around.

D's, did you have to remove the coil spring and control arm to get to 2 of 3 of the motor mount nuts, or can I use a really long extension and reach them through the installed coil spring?
