So, I've got a '91 Firebird that I swapped a '94 LT1/4L60-E into. The other day, a bunch of guys were in the car going to lunch. The guy sitting bitch asked "hey what would happen if I kicked your car into neutral? "The motor would rev" My buddy the driver says. So, being...uh...um..."slow" he tries it.

Now, the funny thing with my Firebird is that the "clicks" in the shifter are off, so you don't need to pust the button to go from neutral to reverse So, when the guy kicks the shifter, it goes from "drive" to "reverse" MOVING 30 MPH!!

After our sudden stop, the car still worked fine. How the heck did we NOT break anything?

I'll bet the clock is ticking on some major repair that you'll need soon. Tranny mounts, transmission itself, could be a variety of other things too...

I agree, after I slapped the guy briskly in the back of his head for doing something so stupid, I'd fix my shifter too....being able to click into reverse while going forward isn't a good thing...

Shoulda acted like the tranny was blown and made him push the car for atleast 2 blocks!

A buddy of mine used to do about 40 in reverse and slam it into drive and watch the smoke roll Reguardless he had a 400 turbo and the car was later wrecked.

You might wanna try that lucas trans fluid. It gave my trans a few extra months of life with a easy foot.

Did that to my old 700 at about 15 mph. It died, started right back up. Months later the tranny pump went out. I don't know if it was because of that, or old age and high milage.
