Heavy clutch problem

Problem I think. This is the first 5/speed camaro i've driven and the clutch is really heavy. Is this normal? Or is there a problem with the clutch or something related to it. If it is normal, is there a way to make it less hard to push down?

Edit: The car's a 1988 iroc-z with the 5.0 tpi.

is it a hydrolic or cable type clutch system just curious but its the presure plate that provides the tension you feel when you push the clutch.

If your used to driving hondas and/or small other 4 cyls you may be experiancing the "heavy clutch problem"

Mustangs are worse...but all and all you might have an actual problem rather then just the feel of a v8 clutch.

There was no cable clutch linkage... it was hydraulic for '84-92, and '82-83 had a mechanical linkage that involved a series of rods and levers. I'm not sure what the hydraulic setup on a 3rdgen feels like, but the mechanical one is quite stiff compared to most other cars I've driven. The only GM hydraulic setup I've used was on a truck with a 4.3 V6, but even that was stiffer than the other Hondas and stuff I've driven. The mechanical linkage is much stiffer than the hydraulic though, I bet.
