no, your car won't start if you leave it unplugged. teh shifter uses the switch to complete a circuit.

can't hurst provide a wiring diagram??????

Get the diagram from B&M. I don't have a scanner or i'd supply it.

Some race tracks wont allow you to race without the switch working.

For the mean time, join the puple and yellow wires together at the shifter. That will allow the car to start.

well i bought the shifter for my old v8 s-10 that was a manual so it didnt have any of that to begin with, so i dont have the instructions anymore, and i havent intstalled it yet, but was just wanting to know so the car wouldnt be stuck not being able to start or drive, and the track here doesnt inspect vehicles for anything, its just like a TNT runs

On mine (a stick car) its on the pedal, but they must be connected to work. If you cut the switch out and solder them together, the starter will engage every time you put the key to "start", in gear or not.

If you are going to race the car though, most drag strips require a functional neutral safety switch. I know because I got the "I'll pass you this time, but you gotta fix it for next time" last summer, when going through tech inspection.

Hurst Quarter Stick Diagram

Thanks for the diagram ABJ88.

I checked and the shifter I have is actually a Hurst Quarter Stick, not a B&M Pro Stick. Below is the wiring diagram that contains the Hurst switches. Hope it helps other people.
