How do I flush out old trans fluid while trans still in vehical?

Back in the day, I along with many of you I'm sure bought into the old "I want the break the neck shifting" idea. So I installed the B&M Kit along with B&M trick shift. This was before I ever had internet and didin't opt for the research method.

Anyway, after I discovered reading , I have since installed a Transgo kit and want to purge all the B&M trickshift out and go back to the Dexron. How do I get the stuff out of the Tourque converter? I'm sure there's alot more in there than what just came oput of the drain pan?

Thanks

im not sure how to get it all out of the TC without pulling it out and dumping it...

You will definately get alot more oil than what was in the pan, my TH350C sat overnight with the valvebody off and i got at least 6 litres of oil that dripped out overnight and it was still dripping in the morning.

If I'm not mistaken you can pull a line off the cooler and pump out what is in the pump und convertor, but not the rest of the tranny because you are in park. Of course you will have to add as you go along because the sump will go dry.

What about paying for a tranny flush - some shops now have a machine that pumps all new fluid in, and evacuates all the old fluid - my brother's ford dealership has one, like a $70 fee for the service - kinda like evacuating an A/C system.

Even dumping the torque converter doesn't get it all out. The method described in the service manual to flush the converter is to drill a hole in the case to drain it, and then plug it afterwards.

I'd probably just drop the pan and get as much out as you can, and then refill with Dexron. Mixing the two a bit won't cause any problems.

pull the pan, drain and refill.a week or so later rinse and repeat that should get most of it out.
me?i'd take it a Car-X or something of the like to have them flush and refill.

Yep this is how they do it at trans shops. Just drill a hole in the converter and use a pipe plug to plug it. Then you can see if there is any metal shavings or other impurities.

My 2cents would be to go to a reputable shop and have em flush it out. At ours we got the BG machine that hooks up at the cooler lines and completely flushes the whole system, then afterwards of course you gotta flush the cooler lines as well. Just my opinion, I got a T5 so Ive never had to think about that.
