Typical 3rd gear damage; but not too severe. Still has most of its teeth.
Looks like that one's been crashed about a million times, before it finally retired.... it lived a HARD life it appears.

Where's a good place to get replacement parts? Looking at replacing third gear, the countershaft, and a countershaft bearing.

You have 2 choices: (1) buy a transmission, buy a kit, take it apart, void the warranty, take yours apart, put one set of good parts in your case, put it in your car; or (2) buy a transmission, put it in your car, skip all those intermediate steps.
Your call.
To buy NEW parts, you will spend 2-3 times what you can buy a good used transmission for; and you'll still have to do all that labor; and you might or might not get every part that's actually damaged. Check 5speeds.com and hanlonmotorsports.com and maybe rockland.com for gears and a "kit".

Hmm, a board wierdness....
You're going to need ALOT more parts than you have listed. You'll need a whole "kit", to begin with; you'll likely need the 3-4 sleeve, looking at how chewed up 3rd gear is from crashing it; there's no telling how much damage has been done to everything else from the metal in the fluid; I'm betting the 2nd shift teeth and sleeve are similarly lunched; and so on. Buying just those 3 parts and swapping them out, is likely to turn out to be a total waste of about $300 or so.

Is it possible to rebuild these T5s to take the abuse a T56 can? Like get super strong gears or something?

Well, let us know how it turns out. Specifically, what other parts you have to buy, how many times you have to tear it back down and replace more stuff after you get it back into the car and it still doesn't work right, and how long it lasts after repair.
Having been EXACTLY where you are, several times over, and enjoying the same experience repeatedly, I'm not optimistic for you. I think you're making a mistake. But, maybe not. Who knows.
I finally ended my T-5 satisfaction and enjoyment by swapping in a T-56. I haven't missed the T-5 for an instant yet. It's only been a couple of years though, maybe someday I'll get all fuzzy and nostalgic for working on my transmission all the time and constantly being afraid it's about to break AGAIN; but so far, it hasn't happened.
Good luck!!!! You're going to be needing it.
Incidentally, I have ALOT ALOT of junk T-5 stuff laying around.

No. Yes.
No, a T5 can't be built to handle what a T56 can, yes, they make stronger gears and shafts. Stonger gears and shafts just break the case quicker. Look up the thread on G-Force on the vendor review board. The problem isn't actually the gears, it's the case and shafts. The straight cut gears will take more power because they don't push away from each other like the factory helical cuts do. But, under big power and heavy abuse, the case and shafts will still deflect, letting the teeth skip, and you end up with expensive parts that look just like what you have.
- As I said in the other post, I never scared a slider/synchro or anything, no clutch, no lift, straight shifting, but I broke 3rd in 3 different trans.
stinkin error on page crap...won't qoute, won't attach....
