I currently have a 305 TBI and T5 in my 88 Z28. I am building a mild 350 and want to keep the T5. The delima is that the 305 is One Piece Rear Main Seal, and the 350 is 2 piece. I was thinking that i can just go with a flywheel from a 82-85 Camaro with T5 and 305 correct?

Yes, that is correct.

You will find that there are 2 such flywheels available; one that came on the low-perf LG4 cars, and weighs 24 pounds or so; and one that came on the high-perf cars with the L69, which is about 16 lbs. You would probably be happier with the lighter one. The lighter one was available starting with the intro of the L69 in 83.

Yep, they're remanned light weight units. They want a core though, and are strict about it.

What about later year TPI cars with the T5? Would they have come with the 16lb flywheel?

No, the T-5 flywheel will not work with a T-56. The T-56/2-pc RMS combo needs a $$special$$ "conversion" unit, such as the one from Centerforce. 700107 IIRC. (I have one of those in my car)

Yes there are also 2 flywheels for the later cars; one for the non-performance cars with LG4 and TBI which is heavy, and one for the TPI cars which is lighter. But of course those won't fit a 2-pc rear main seal motor so they're not an issue in this case.
