how high of a stall?
Since I've realized my flexplate cracked and stripped in many places around the crankshaft, I am wapping Torque converters as well, with engine in sig below, I currently run a 2400 stall, people keep telling me to get more stall. How high should I go? i think 3000 sounds right because of the extra cubes, and weight, it should be a little higher anyways. whats your opinion?

3500 at least--if not 3800-4000, not to mention you have lockup so it won't be that bad on the highway or anything regardless from the TH700R4 trans.

As far as 700r4 goes....bigger is better (to a point of course) and you have the means to use it, I wouldn't go to a 4000 with that rear...

If u drive it on the street the 3600 stall starts to suck it real quick if its not locked up.
Be honest about how you drive it and pick the stall more towards that side.
My TTA has a 3k stall and my Formula has the Vigi also stalling in the 27-2800 range and it works out quite well.
Also spending the $$$$ on a real converter like Yank or Vigilantes is worth every dime. Much tighter below stall for street use. I have 2 out of 3 cars equipped and if the third ever needs a tranny it will be 3-3 on the Vigi's.

it will be lockup so it shouldnt be bad on the street correct? This car I drive for fun, to meets and the drag, whenever I feel like it I will take it to work or something. I do have a 98 z28 that is stock that i guess i could call my 'daily driver' if i need to, i dont dive it much though the iroc is too much fun! lol but now you know this isnt my only car, I never drove a high stall car but if it slips any off idle or what not, I think i can live with that.

no when it locks-up then it'll be like any old converter. so if you're above the lockup speed you won't notice the difference. With a cam that big I would shoot for 3600-4000 in a lockup. My buddy drives his 4200 stall'd LS1 with lockup around town and since he bought a well built vig it drives pretty normally, not to mention you said this is a weekend fun toy.

- Your sig posted this time. - That is a pretty decent cam for the street. If it was mostly race driven, I'd say something like 4000. Since you do drive it, although not essentially, I'd stay in the 3k range. I wouldn't do a B&M or TCI though, spend the $ and get a decent converter. Vig and Yank seem to be the most reccomended on this board, but PATC(raptor) has some pretty good one also, even Torco.

what about hughes? I don't want to spend long term funds on a TC because I just dont know how long I want to stick with an auto.
Also, you might want to look into Edge Racing Converters. I bought a 3400 stall, 9.5 inch converter, and I could not be happier. Also the price is better than a few others. IIRC, I think I paid $525.00. What ever you get, be sure to install a trans cooler.

I would say 3,400-3,600 and reprogram the computer to give lock-up when you want/need it.
I run a Yank 2,800 behind an (then) almost stock TBI 350 in a Van. My thoughts are that with your cam and given how much lighter the F-body is you will want the extra stall speed. IMO, 2,400 is too low for anything.
