Installing clutch
Ok guys. My clutch has been needing replacement for a while. So its time to get a new one. I have a t-5 and have never worked with a transmission before. I have a friend who replaced his clutch on his Mazda who would help me. Should I attempt this project by myself or just leave it up to my mechanic?
Thanks,
Dave

It's not that bad. You can do it. Here are some tips.
1) Drain out the fluid. The plug for draining and the plug for filling are on the passenger side of the tranny. Don't touch the driver's side plugs. They aren't plugs and if pulled, your tranny is now internally in parts.
2) Mark the driveshaft with chalk, a sharpie or what have you in relation to the rear end yoke. If the driveshaft is not causing vibration now, let's get it back in the same way so it doesn't vibrate when you get it back together.
3) Get a clutch kit. It will have all compatable parts with a splined alignment shaft to get the clutch aligned straight.
4) Note how the throw out bearing mounts on the clutch arm. Do not try to reinstall by putting the TO between the spring and the clutch arm. It goes over the spring. You'll see what I mean when you pull it out.
Good Luck!
