lock up or not to lock up that is the ?

looking into buying a 3000 stall converter for my iroc... i have a lock up transmission right now... my ? is will having a non lock up converter in my car mess anything up??? because the non lock up converters are way cheaper than the lock up.... thanks

You will lose gas mileage, it will run hotter, higher rpm at cruise in OD, etc.

a 3000 stall should feel pretty good with that cam

Like stated above, you will be looking at a slight loss in mileage and an increase in tranny temps.

You may want to look into a tranny cooler, its scary how only a few degree increase in trans temps can take 10 years off the life of it!

well i do have two trans coolers... goes into the radiator first then to the external one.....

For the 10" non-lockup torque converter I would use the Continental. The 2,400 rpm stall will work well.
