T-5 Transmission came out of a 1985 Ford Mustang 5.0 GT, 5 speed. I drove the car to the house before I took it apart so I know it shifts through the gears well. Car that transmission was taken out of was babied and well taken care of, with low miles. Planned on using it as a spare, but no longer have the room because I am moving soon. I will take $175 or B/O. Transmission has been stored & covered in a heated garage for a couple years. More pictures availible upon request.
The TREMEC T-5 is a 5-speed manual transmission for longitudinal engine automobiles. It includes one overdrive gear, a light-weight aluminum housing, and is adaptable for four wheel drive use. It is manufactured by Transmission Technologies Corporation. The T-5 was designed by Borg-Warner and was sold as the Borg-Warner T-5.

Tremec bought up the remains of the company that owned the IP remaining from the B-W transmission division, sometime long after all these were produced. So that's not "Tremec" T-5, it's a Borg-Warner T-5; even though that product line currently belongs to Tremec. AFAIK Tremec is not producing T-5s but I could be wrong. Not that it matters though; they'd be the same as B-W ones.
And as said, it's a F*rd transmission, so it won't bolt into your chevy. Although its innards are as identical as they can possibly be to Chevy ones, except for the gear ratios and the input and output splines. No better and no worse except for the crappy Mustang gear ratios.

Right; just because it's a T-5, and T-5s were used in lots of vehicles, doesn't mean it will fit them all.
They differ in lots of details; bolt patterns, splines, mount locations, even the shifter (S truck ones, for example, have their shifter mounted about 6" in front of where they are in F cars).
I wouldn't bother with the "informing" part though; unless you're a card-carrying member of the "Secret T-5 Police". He's not going to change his schpiel just because it's wrong. Used car (and used car parts) sellers who would advertise something like that in the first place, aren't usually interested in accuracy. It's one of the purest forms left of "caveat emptor".
Just keep looking for what you REALLY want for yourself.
