How bad did I damge my 700r4?

When I picked my girlfriend up today, car was driving fine, nothing unusual at all.

When I take her home, trans is slipping BAD. Real bad, turn around, take my dads mustang to drop off my girlfriend >.< so on the way home I pick up 4 quarts of trans fluid, get home, pour it in, and test drive it. Drives fine now, shifts normal.

The trans fluid didnt even show up on the dipstick.

So how bad did this half mile of driving my car low on trans fluid damage my trans?

If it's shifting good now you may have gotten lucky. But I would start looking for leaks because that fluid had to go somewhere.Have you done/had any service work done lately? How often do you check the trans fluid?

Yeah, it's not just the half mile of driving that would have hurt, it's the whole time you've been driving on it low. Or were you recently doing any work on it?

lol I love your quote it says "I rather push a chevy than drive a ford" But you just took your GF home in a ford because your chevy broke down lol.

Haha, I was time constrained >.<

My car has bad oil leaks, allthough I havent noticed ANY trans fluid in the spots that I park my car at. I'm kind of boggled by this, I dont know where the fluid had gone to. Originally when I had put my new engine in, I had a bad leak in the trans at the dipstick tube, a bunch of RTV fixed it. It may be an incredibly slow leak at this moment and thats why it has taken up untill now for it to alert me with its cry for help. Im just going to keep a watchfull eye on the level of trans fluid from now on. I check my oil once a week so it wont hurt to spend the extra minute checking my trans fluid too.

check where the trans lines go into the radiator, that may be where it is going.
