what to expect after transgo install? - Just got mine done
I had a shop install the transgo shift kit, and I've been driving it a few days. I'm a little disappointed though, since I expected a solid 1-2 chirp every time at full throttle. I could sometimes get that before the kit. (I have low mileage mostly stock L98- Cold air intake, ported plenum and intake manifold, accel injectors)
The shifting is a little firmer, and it seems to shift better when cold. In fact, when cold the 1-2 shift under light throttle is a little harsh but that goes away once warmed up.
Does this sound normal? The shop is supposed to be a well known performance place that has been written up in magazines- and I was charged 4.5 hours labor so it wasn't cheap!
thanks in advance for any info...

Heres what I noticed after mine was installed:
1) Normal driving shifts felt nice and smooth like stock, but seemed "faster" if that makes any sense.
2) The harder I was on the throttle, the stiffer and harder the shifts were.
3) Wide open throttle shifts were MUCH harder and quicker then stock, but only breaks the tires loose on shifts once in a while.
4) Downshifts are much much faster and way harder.
5) After letting off a WOT run at say 80, the car would hold gear for a couple seconds, then upshift into overdrive. This is now gone since the kit was installed.
Here is the shiftkit I purchased, well worth the money in my opinion:

The installer told me "Wow, this kit has a lot of extra parts in it, it should be night and day when we finish." And he was right.

No, you do not need to remove the trans to do that kit, it can be done by taking off the tranny pan and working under the car.
When I installed mine, I expected to chirp the tires in between shifts, but that didnt happen. Instead, I was more than impressed with what the kit ADVERTISES it does (pretty much everything that Irocthe5.7L listed). Nowhere does the kit say "You will chirp the tires". Also, you have to give it a little while to break in, at least that is what I found (idk whether or not this was due to the vaseline holding in the check ***** dissolving or what, but after about a week it felt better). Call them up and ask if they installed one washer in the accumulator, or two or three. If they did one, the shifts wont be as firm, if they did three, then your *** will hurt on the 1-2, and two washers is juuuussst right.
