Crap! Did I goof up the brake install on my 9 inch?
So I got the whole 9 inch installed and put together. I pulled the drums off so I could adjust the star adjuster so there would be just a little bit of drag. Then I noticed, "hey, my parking brake cable should hook up." So I assembled the driver's side unit with my big long cable going around the back plugging into the rear. Then I go to the front and alas, unlike my old setup the access whole for the passenger side is in the rear instead of the front. Then I think to myself, are these self adjusting drums and if so, did I put them on backwards? They are 11" ford drum brakes, I think the same ones that an explorer has on them. I don't see a difference in size between the shoes (a primary or a secondary) but one side, the sides facing the front of the car, has a wire running from the top to the lever sitting against the star adjuster. Any help is appreciated. I really don't want to switch these things to the other side, but if I have to.
Also, a u-joint question...
I measured wrong and got the u-joint installed for a 1350 yoke (1 3/16" cap diameter, I forgot the length of the u-joint). I now need a conversion u-joint with that diameter cap and for the pinion yoke 1 1/8" caps. Any ideas as to part numbers? I left the u joint length in the car, but I could get it if anyone needed it.
Thanks,
Mike

that cable for the adjuster should be on the trailing side of the assembly...I think that the u joint for a 1le shaft and a 1350 short pinion is a 447X at napa

Save yourself the headach and get a yoke for a 1350 u-joint. They are cheap and it will be much stronger!

good point. Problem is though that I just had this driveshaft cut. I don't want to pay for another lengthening or shortening. Wonder if i could get a yoke the same length?
