do I need a new speedo gear housing?

I went from a 1990 2.73 thirdgen rear to a 3.42 4th gen rear and the speedometer is (obviously) off. I know that this car has a VSS and I just want to make sure that the ONLY parts I need are:
-15-tooth drive gear (gray), GM#8642620
-41-tooth cone-shaped driven gear (yellow), GM# 25513048

I need to order these parts soon but I just wanted to make sure first. Thanks!!

Awesome. Thanks for the quick reply. Also, when people talk about needing a different driven gear housing (35-39, or 40-45), does that only apply if they have a mechanical speedometer cable?

One more question...In order to get the VSS out, do you just remove the sensor plug, the bolt, and then pry it out or what?

Yup on the removal. And I have both types ofVSS (one is white, one is black) and there was no difference when I used the correct gear on either unit, so I'm not quit sure why they had 2 VSSs

What exactly is the difference between the white and black VSS's? Thanks for all you patience...

I asked the same question when I was doing the swap. The only info I found is that the black one was for the gears with less then 40 gears, and the white one is for gears with more than 40 teeth. I put the yellow gear on both the white VSS and the black VSS. Same result on the speedo. So I dunno what the difference is, but the speedo has the same readout. I determined my speedo was indicating correctly by being paced by the same vehicle.

Don't worry, use the same VSS that you have.
