Carbed, Lock up questions.

hey guys.
First off as a new member i would really like to say that its great to finnally find a place where i have access to a world of knowledge from all you.Rather than just throw a couple questions at my mechanic buddies. You guys seem to really know ur stuff.

I've got an 84 with a carbed 355.I'm about to install a new 2500 converter with lock-up.I know my 700r4 has the lock up feature but i'm curious how these transmissions are controlled right from the factory because this car doesn't never had a computer.Am i goin to have to remove and reinstall any lock up devices while installing the new converter or is this a straight forward parts swap? Also, would i be better off changing this over to a manuelly contolled switch if i plan to frequent the drag strip.

How sure are you that the car never had a computer?

As long as your lock-up works currently, you don't have to do anything when you change the converter.

Just because it was carbed doesn't mean it didn't have a computer. Unless you're in Canada, or another "export" country, your car had a computer.
