tq arm manual vs auto
is there a difference in how the torque arms mount to the transmission in a t-5 vs a 700-r4 or are they the same.

thats so weird, i have a tremec tko 600 transmission in my car and the place i got it from 5speedtransmissions.com offers an adapter bracket if you had an automatic transmission and says the stock t-5 tq arm will fit the tranny.
I have a spohn piece but it never fit right in the first place, and have a drone coming through my drivetrain that seems to be pinpointed at the crossmember. I want to throw a stock one in if itll bolt right up and see if that fixes my problem.

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
AFAIK they are the same.
However, there are 2 types; the "lips" on the end that goes to the transmission, will be faced one way or the other (like { vs } ) But that's not an auto/stick thing, or even a year-model thing. Might have been from which assembly plant it came. I think they all were the same by about 86 or so. They interchange, as long as you also have the TA bracket that faces the right way.

It's not the torque arm they're adapting, it's the torque arm mounting bracket on the transmission.

The mounting holes on the tail of the two transmissions are different, so a different bracket is used. If you can find a T5 car in a junkyard it sounds like you could use the bracket from that.

The automatic bracket is completely different from the manual one. Just get a bracket from a T5 tranny, and you're all set. I've got a TKO 5 speed on the floor in the garage, and the T5 torque arm bracket bolted right up to it. All the bolt holes line up perfectly. As far as the torque arm "lips" go, every T5 bracket I've grabbed so far has the lips facing towards the driveshaft. My 700r4 torque arm has them facing the other direction, so I just snagged another torque arm from a T5 car in the junkyard for $20. Thread
