168 or 153 tooth flexplate

im getting ready to start ordering parts for my automatic swap. does it really matter if i use a 168 or 153 tooth flexplate. i know i have to check to make sure which one the starter works with. but i think the engine block has 2 set of starter holes. is one better than the other. the car had a manual so i know that that starter should work with a 153 tooth flexplate. any help would be great. thanks alot

I have a brand new GM 153 tooth flex plate that I took of my ZZ383 crate motor. If your interested in it $30.00 + shipping.

Send me a PM if interested.

The 153 tooth is smaller and lighter, and its what our cars came with, so use that one.

Just make sure you get the right one with the right balance. Probally externally balanced...

Yes. If your motor is internally balanced you need a flexplate without a weight.

one piece rms engines are "internally balanced" but the flexplate still has that bat wing shaped weight on one end. FYI.
