new tranny adjustment

I remeber on my old transmission adjusting the tv cable was exactly the way everyone on this web site describes it. Push in the button, push the cable back as far as it will go, then open the throttle to WOT, and the tv cable will ratchet itself forward, (usually a few teeth) and you will be set.

Well I had my tranny installed with my new 350. The tv cable can no longer be adjusted that way. I push in the button, then push the cable as far back as it will go. When I go to WOT the ratcheting teeth deal does not come out any number of teeth. The throttle will go to WOT, but will not bring the tv teeth with it. Does that make sense?? When I got my tranny he gave me a tv cable with it that he said was for my car. Could this be wrong??

If this doesnt make sense, please tel me what other info. I need. I dont want to take it to a mechanic, cuz the ones in my area dont know squat.

Re: new tranny adjustment

can i push the button, slide it all the way back, take out the slack, and then adjust it as normal?

i was thinking about taking up the slack by placing another stopper closer to the throttle bracket. will that work?

Re: new tranny adjustment

No.

There is only ONE way that works right, and that's the right way.

http://www.tvmadeez.com/article/index.php for info on how it works.

Re: new tranny adjustment

what the hell man???? what am supposed to get out of that article??. I dont have a line pressure gauge with a 7 foot hose, nor do I even want to look at my valve body. I refuse to pay a mechanic, because I can guarantee you there is not ONE mechanic in Fresno California that knows a lick about anything that article is talking about.

Im really pissed, because im engine and tranny are both new, and i have this tv cable problem. When I first picked up the car it shift fine,. Now its progressivly getting worse. I want it fixed before my tranny gives.

These cars lick huge ***** with this tv cable bullsh** system!!!
Anyone wanna buy a 87 Iroc Z??. New engine and tranny. Ill be posting it on classifieds. This car licks *****!

Re: new tranny adjustment

The article was simply to educate you on how the system works. Not so much to tell you that you have to get this or that gauge; but to help you understand it, so that you can figure out what will or won't work and why, and maybe what else might be wrong with it besides "adjusting" it.

Sorry you aren't interested.

Re: new tranny adjustment

I know it doesnt. I just went outside and apologized to her. Im just frustrated with work, and my car. I want this thing to run good. And there isnt anyone in my area that knows much about these cars. Most mechanics will be able to get by, but ineed one that understands tpi systems.

Whats the best way to get this things set properly. I read that article, and wow...im not gonna do. I dont even wanna drop the trannty pan. Its a brand new tranny with e fluid and everything.
