Ok guys help....I have a 2 connector wire (With a push on connector) hanging down near my tranny...(At least I think it goes there) It is hooked into the other multiple connector wire that is on the tranny.....Im not sure what it does, but it has been unhooked for a while now, as there is dirt in the connectors.....WHERE DOES THIS GO????? I thought it might be for the lockup, but just dont know.(Never thought it worked)...What are the wires for on the tranny...????? Is there anything else it could go to???? I have tried everyplace I can think of, but can find no places that are missing anything..I guess what I need to know is what are the wires under the car...I never noticed it, till i put a new shifter in...Thanks for any help on this...Tom

 

What color are the wires? It's probably for the VSS.

 

VSS, what is that..????..My speedlimiter worked, untill it was chipped, and my speedo works fine.Forgive my stupidity....

 

My 89 RS has the same connector. It's just an extra connector that's not used. I'm pretty sure it's for the VSS, which isn't used unless you have the electric speedometer, which wasn't used until 1990. The only other thing it could be is the reverse light connector for a manual trans. They have the same style plug as the VSS. Either way, it's not used for anything. That's the way they came from the factory. Btw, VSS stands for "vehicle speed sensor". Our cars have a different form of VSS though. It's located on the gauge cluster in the back of the speedo head. It's just a data input for the ecm for torque converter lockup, or the shift indicator light on a manual car.
