Why does everyone say that 9 bolts are stronger then 10 bolts. Is there really a difference? I always thought that they were both the same, it just depends on how bad you abuse them.

the 9 bolt has a slightly larger 7.75 ring gear, it does not have c-clips and is always been considered a superior axle, but compared to larger rears, 9" 12bolts and so one its still weak

The average 9 bolt will stand up to considerably more abuse than the average 10 bolt.
