lockup connector...

I'm thinking about picking up another 3rd gen. a guy down the road from me has a 92 bird in great condition and only wants $600...but it has no trans. Although, I have a th350 trans just lying around. but it doesn't have a connector for the lockup that the original 700r4 had...do I even need this? Also, will a 700r4 tailshaft work with a th350? thanks

I dont think it makes a difference if you dont have the connector hooked up to anything. It may give you a couuple codes but i dont see how it could affect anything else.

I've never used a 350 trans in a 3rd gen, only the 700. All I've got is a 700r4 tailshaft, and a 350 trans. If that tailshaft won't work with the 350 I'm not going digging through junkyards for one that will fit.

Re: lockup connector...

If you wanted to tear the whole transmission apart to put a 700R4 tailshaft into the 350 you could, and somewhere there's an adapter available for the tailshaft housing.

I dont think codes will be an issue, except for the VSS.

The VSS on his 84 is cable driven, so no issues there.

Re: lockup connector...

The 350 trans isn't from my 84. my 84 has a t5. the th350 is from a 78 pickup truck. and I've already got the tailshaft from the old 700r4, the current owner already took it off. but we weren't sure if it would bolt up to my th350 or if we would need something else. ie, adapter.

Re: lockup connector...

Are you talking about the tailshaft, or the tailshaft housing?
