Transgo woes

For the past 2 days i've been in the process of installing this transgo kit into my type 1 '86 700R4.

I got it all back together today and gave it a wirl, but the boost valve seemd to be stuck... So from the threads i've read i took the snap ring out and shot the PR valve, int. valve and boost valve into the pan.

I guess ill try and polish out the gouge's in the valves and give her a go again.

My question is, with the pr, inv, and boost valves out should the trans be able to shift into another gear besides reverse? Currently it will only shift into reverse and I dont want to force it any further.

Maybe I screwed something else up in the process?

Re: Transgo woes

I did the B&M kit in my 88 truck. I didnt get the pressure regulator valve snap ring seated into its groove, it was in the counterbore. It didnt come out, but was down lower. I lost 3rd gear..... after driving less that 5 miles.

Re: Transgo woes

With the valves out you'll have zero pressure to the clutches.
I did the counter bore thing too. But mine came out while I was doing pressure checks in the driveway.

Re: Transgo woes

I only ran it to shoot em into the pan when they were stuck. I got em re-situated, and I had the manual valve hooked up ***-backwards. It will snap your neck on the one to two shift but going from two - three its a little loose. The TV cable opened up the plunger all the way when its floored. Is there any way to firm up the 2-3 a little more?
