rear end

i read the tech article on the rear end beef up of our stock rear end, just wanted t know, has anyone done this mod and has it help up with +450 hp/tq applications?
ive got a 395 stroker block w/ 195 afr's should be putting out close to 500 hp/ 500 ft tq. i just got a badass tranny from the guys at megaraptor transmissions, i think my weak point would be the rear end. can you help me out. im planning on getting some rear lift bars from lakewood and a torque arm/ crossmember from spohn that will take away the mounting point in the 700r4. what do you think.
budget is tight so i wanna do the cheapest thing that will hold up

thanks a bunch
carlos

Re: rear end

next time ... this is one of the hundreds of threads on this.. and i would cancel the lakewood "lift bars" and just get tubular LCA's and LCARB's.. the lift bars and a torque arm together could bind..

Re: rear end

believe me idid, but i couldnt find anything usefull, anyhow sorry for the repost

"lift bars and a torque arm together could bind.." that's what i thought, i belive the torque arm on the trans mount should help w/ the torque transfer on the rear end.
by the way what are LCARB's?
are they lower control arm relocation brackets? if so will the bolt on work hust as well

thanks for your reply

Re: rear end

yes, LCARB's are lower control arm relocation brackets.. to be honest, i would just get the weld in ones.. think of it as preventative maintenance.. all that torque from the 395 wont be too forgiving with bolt ons..

Re: rear end

straight from the Spohn website.. and good call on the xmember mounted TA(Torque Arm).. better start getting used to acronyms.. they are used widely here on TGO(ThirdGen.Org) and yes, there are so many options and so little money..

NON-LOWERED vehicles will also see a dramatic increase in traction by lowering the rearward angle of the LCA with our relocation brackets. The lower mount holes are placed in the arc pattern of the OEM length LCA. Therefore allowing a non-lowered F-Body to drop the rear LCA angle and NOT require a longer than OEM LCA. All geometry is correctly maintained. The anti-squat performance is providing most users with a full .10 or better 60' reduction!

Re: rear end

ive gotten alot more info than what i thought i was gonna get. things alooking clearer now,
thanks for the links too

have you seen that relocation crossmember on BMR website, its like $255, but only works w/ the BMR torqu arm.
thats why i was thinking of just going with the spohn torqu arm/ mount w. safety loops $490
any sugestions, will these afetrmarket torque arms workw. a 12 bolt after i blow the one i have

thanks a lot

Re: rear end

sorry its been kinda a while.. no problem on everything..

well as for most torque arms, they are compatible with most all aftermarket 12 bolt rears.. if you are in doubt, call the company.. i know that spohn and bmr both fit 12 bolt rears because they say.. just read the disclaimer on the BMR site.. something about threaded bolt holes.. whatevers..

i really dont have an answer as to which TA is better.. but i can say that you really only need the front driveshaft loop..
