t-56 swap bolt specs
It's an 83 T/A. Pulled the 305 and 700R4, gosh, has it been 12 years already?
Anyways, I have a 350 (2pc rear main) and t56 waiting to go in. I've done my homework and have all the parts..... except for the fasteners. What are the specs that I need?
I will need:
- trans to engine
- torque arm
- rear crossmember
- flywheel
- flex plate
- ?????
I went to the dealer but they were totally clueless.

Re: t-56 swap bolt specs
Yea, stealerships are notoriously retarded about that.
Bell housing to engine - 3/8"-NC, 1.5"long, grade 8. Use washers
Torque arm - which bolts ? TA to rear? TA clamshell? TA mount to tranny?
tranny cross member to frame- should be an M8 coarse. The threads are usually ripped out though, try drilling and tapping for 7/16"NC if you can. Or else drop in a 3/8"NC 1.25" long bolt from the top side, and use a nut underneath.
flywheel - buy these at a parts store, the MR gasket ones. They come in a neat little packet which comes with the little star washers. Use blue (or red) loctite.
Are you planning on using a flywheel or a flexplate with your T56?

Re: t-56 swap bolt specs
Thanks. Did I say flex plate? I meant pressure plate. I have the centerforce flywheel.

ok, same as the flywheel, grab the MR gasket pack of bolts on the shelf. "Clutch bolts" it should be called. Those are crucial, the bolt has a shoulder that helps locate it. Again, loctite.
