2-4 band

Do they make a more durable band for the 4l60e and is it worth getting. I need to replace it and I have an extra stock one sitting in the garage. Post links if you can. Thanks

if the drum is still good and flat, you can get the extra wide one. also, they make kevlar lined bands as well.

Re: 2-4 band

In late 1995 GM went with a Borg Warner Hi-Energy 2-4 band, which was/is a great improvement over the earlier band. I use this band in all of Performance build ups. It is good for over 750HP, as the nine second vehicles they are in hold up well with them. The only 2-4 band that I would recommend above this for more HP is the extra wide black carbon lined from Alto. I do not recommend the Kevlar band at all. To use the extra wide band, the drum must be perfectly flat, otherwise you can have a problem. I would stick with a Borg Warner Hi-Energy 2-4 band. Make sure you use the Corvette servo with it.

Re: 2-4 band

Unless something is amiss there's no reason for the band not to last as long as the clutches. So if the band is the only thing hurt, you need to check the servo, the servo pin height, and the drum surface. For the band to let go and the clutches to be fine something is either wrong or not up to the task.

Do you sell the high energy band on your website. I looked but could not find it.

Yes, I have them, but you could most likely pick up one from a local shop faster than through me. Just make sure that it says Borg Warner and the color of the material is greenish black. The reverse input drum that the 2-4 band rides on must be flat (not dished at all) otherwise you will burn the band in a very short time. If you want call me on this at 909 7951876. Dana

Re: 2-4 band

I would agree never use the kevlar band , While they do take heat well they take forever to wear in and give a good feel to the shift. Additionally though they have likley fixed it now at one time we had troubles with the band lining literally just coming unglued from the band. The high energy that PBA mentions is and excellent choice as is the wide carbon composite, We also like the alto redline wide band which is our choice. But as mentioned beware to use a wide band the runout on the drum across the band surface machined area cannot exceed .005 that being the absolute max and less is prefered.
