Whos running a 3500 or higher Stall Torque converter on the street?
Like the title says, Who is running a 3500 or higher stall on the street?
I have a 10" 2700-3000 unit from jegs. It has a leak in the weld and I am sending it back. They said I could upgrade if I wanted to.
I was thinking of going with there 3500-3800 unit. I am running a TH350 with 3.73 gears and 26" tall tires. The cam is the comp xr282hr cam. The cars race weight is 3375.
It is not a daily driver but does see some street use.
Let me know what you guys are running.

I've been running a 10in. Coan converter with a 3500 stall for about 5 years now with no problems. Mine isn't a daily driver but does see quite a bit of street time. I used to drive it even more back a few years ago when my combo was more mild. I would even drive it over an hour on the highway to another track to race occasionally. As long as you have a good trans cooler you should be fine. With the current combo that I have now I need a higher stall, so I'll probably go with something around 4000-4500 next spring.

I am running an external cooler along with the factory one.
I have it running out of the trans into the bottom of the radiator, out the top and into the bottom of the cooler. Then it returns back to the trans.
I hot lapped it last summer a few times and the trans fluid didnt bubble or foam at all.
From what I have heard, there are quiet a few 4th gens running around with 4000 stall on the street.

Running a 9.5 inch 4,000 stall on the street zero problems and used to daily drive the car with a 3,000 stall. Never had an issue with heat with the B&M cooler only.

Stop and go is really no different, you get used to the rpms going up a little higher and not being really "tight" at the lower rpms like stock. I can still idle around with my foot off of the throttle and idle is set at 850ish RPMs. 60' times did improve even going from a 3000 to a 4000. Think I was mostly in the 1.80's but now am in the 1.60's. Need to start doing some suspension work to get those times down even more.

3600 here with no issues really, a typical stall for a ls1 car is 4400-5000 now on some of their cams

My brother is running a 4K stall and a friend of mine is running a 4600 stall, both are daily drivers
Both are H/C LS1's though and get 26+mpg on the highway.

Well guys, I got the converter back from jegs.
I must have not seen the right information because they sent back the same part number. I guess I should have had printed off the return sheet from there website instead of typing a letter. So now its the 2700-3000 unit.
Should I just use it or ship it back and try to upgrade again. Its only $10 to ship it. Now would be the time while the trans is out.
Is it going to be worth it? going from the 2700-3000 unit to the 3500-3800 unit?

I sent it back yesterday in its original packaging. Just like jegs sent it. I put my info on the back of the invoice and kept a copy for myself.
I would have been crazy not to wait. It should pick my et's up.
In a way, I guess it was good that the first one had a flaw. I should have picked a higher rated converter in the first place. Plus I didnt loose much money to upgrade. Just the shipping cost twice.
