Shifter problem.

Something is loose or broken inside the shifter. It's shifts into gear just fine, and you have to press the button to go from P-R-N down to 1, however, in D through 1 I do NOT have to press the button to push it right up into neutral. N to P still requires the normal button press.

What could the problem be and what should I do to fix it?

Re: Shifter problem.

You don't have to do anything. That's exactly what it's supposed to do.

the pushbutton is a kind of safty switch, so you cant just bump the trans into reverse or park when your flying down the road.
