82 TA T-10 to T-5 ?
Well since finding an 83' t-5 bellhousing hasn't happened, I was wondering if a 84-92 hyd. bell housing would work, if you did a little grinding. It kinda looks like it should, but not sure. Anyone try this?? Can't find an 83' bellhousing and lakewoods $400 bellhousing is just too much. Still debating if I should throw my t-5 in....

I did ... the hydraulics fit with just a little enlarging of where that rod goes through the firewall and drilling 2 holes to secure the hydraulic master cylinder but you will need 84-92 pedals
----------
when you mount the newer pedal assembly in that gives you the place to drill the 2 holes ... its a easy swap mine had a automatic though but it all fit with no hassles

I was wondering if you could make the hydaulic bellhousing work with the old mech. linkage. I really don't want to have to swap out the pedals and all the other bs.

What about using the current BH, and tweaking the shifter? Or is that even worse?
I'm going the opposite direction with my T-10, upgrading to hydraulic clutch with the stock pedals - using a hydraulic throw-out bearing.

then everything would be off including he tranny mount. It's hard to tell from pics, but it looks like the only dif between the two bellhousings mech and hyd for a t-5 is the mound for the slave cyl. I'm wondering if it would work with the mech linkage.

only takes about a hour to convert to hydraulic setup. much nice and easier to use then mechanical but it's your car.

Re: 82 TA T-10 to T-5 ?
The hydraulic clutch bellhousing will not work with your mechanical linkage because the pivot ball for the throwout fork is in the wrong location. I know this for a fact as i have a mechanical bellhousing and a hydraulic bellhousing and i laid them side by side before i did my T-5 swap .

Re: 82 TA T-10 to T-5 ?
Ok well I finally found a bellhousing from an 83' with the mech linkage. I know I'm gonna need a driveshaft from a 700r4/t-5 car, but what about the tq arm and tq arm mount, and also what about the speedo gears??? and will the x-member still work???

Re: 82 TA T-10 to T-5 ?
crossmember will work. BUT...your holes on YOUR car are 3 inches farther forward than they need to be. Get an extra x-member and hack off the ends. Then weld plates that extend 3 inches further forward and redrill the holes.
There ARE NOT extra holes in the 82's as is on the newer cars.
