aw crap that can't be good!

I heard somthing really bad coming from the underside of my camaro tonight. I was just puting it into drive and as always it lurched froward a bit, that's uasal. Then i drive nice for a bit then go about half throttle and then pop! I hear a noise and even feel it! I drive normal and it seems fine. give it throttle no problem. Later I slow down to a near stop and give it throttle... bang! it does it again! I thought i blew something through the rear pan.

What is this! is my rear end going out? a loose connection? bad u joints? HELP! I don't want my rear to blow out if it does not have to!!

X2. Then go by AutoZone and get a $20 EnergySispension Poly one. The OEM rubber ones didnt last long and the 'replacement' rubber ones are worse yet.

Re: aw crap that can't be good!

The poly ones (Energy Susp and ProThane) have an interlocking core. So in the event they do break, your driveline wont bow up, pound the tranny tunnel and wear out the u-joints. I just bought a new Poly one. My old one was getting pretty worn, but then again it did last about 9-10 years. I went throug 3 rubber ones in a year after the orig one finally gave up after about 8 years. The GM rubbers do last a decent amount of time, but are still known to break apart. The replacement ones just dont seem to last. And adding more power and/or shift kit just kills it

Re: aw crap that can't be good!

The only issue with the poly mount is I hear alot of complaints about vibration transfer with them

Seemingly. I never had any notible vibes from it. Maybe with a bigger cam 355 like I have now vs. the old LG4 cam was in the 305 B4. Then again with all the poly bushings on it now, everything tight =)

Re: aw crap that can't be good!

well i don't want to replace it again. I'm lazy like that as long as it does not vibrate on the highway, i don't care. I need to return this rubber one though (it's made in India and it keeps trying to sell me long distance )

Thanks for the help!!!

Re: aw crap that can't be good!

I dont notice anything in the way of extra vibration at all from mine.

It's a bunch of racket over nothing if you ask me.

Re: aw crap that can't be good!

I'm glad that I read this post today. I was going to replace the transmission mount on my Trans Am over the weekend, and am now going to go with the poly one instead of the rubber one.
