I have an 83 z28 with a carbed 355.....the car came original with a th200 i think..(3 speed is all i know) I have a trade option for a 700r4 and i was wondering what it would take to get it in the car and shifting correctly.....the so called "Tv" cable is what puzzles me....when the car was a th350 all that cable did was kick down when you floor it.....is it differnt for a 700? also was wondering if anybody had some info on a shift kit installation....any help is greatly appreciated

 

Now you need a repair manual. It details how to set the TV cable. In a 700 tranny, the cable determines the shifting and you will ruin your transmission if you don't adjust it right.

You need a 700R4 transmission for a V8, a 700R4 3rd gen removal tail shaft housing that has the mount holes for the torque arm mount. You need a torque arm for a 700R4 3rd gen. You need a shifter and top shifter plate for the 700R4 up top as well.
