T-5 air in lines help!!

ok so i swapped into my 91 formula a t5 out of a 88 camaro. it worked fine in the camaro, took it out and put it in my firebird. i had put a new slave cylinder in it when doing the swap. when i put it in the line for the slave was bone dry. i keep bleeding the lines, after about 4 hours later i still get air every other time of bleeding the lines. i went through a bottle of fluid.

I can get the car to start with teh clutch in, while in first gear, but cannot get out of gear when running, or i start it up and gear and it wants to take off with the clutch in.

so there has to be air getting in some where. can someone help me out.

or could it be something other then this?

thanks alot

Re: T-5 air in lines help!!

ey there

since you already have gravity bled the lines your slave should be filled with fluid. Problem is the master wich problably has some air bubbles in it.

fill up the reservoir and leave cap aside...
put some towels around the reservoir...
unbolt the slave from the tranny...
press in the rod of the slave by hand...you should hear the air coming out of the reservoir...
check fluid level...
repeat this a few times till you have a hard resistance when pushing in the slave rod...
attach the slave to tranny, check fluid level and try it out.

that method worked fine on my car after I wanted to bleed the original GM cylinders (wich squeaked)...I had some air gathering in the master and was unable to push the clutch. so I did like that to remove the air.

hope that works!
