Re: strange dana 60 question?

Just to hazard a (relatively accurate) guess, I would have to say....... No. Are there any brakes on the rear now? What are your current rears? Do the axles even have the same bolt pattern as your current rear? What did you plan to do about that? Unilugs? (please dont.)

i dont have any plans, i am trying to put a car together without any knowledge on what goes with what. i have a stock rear on a v6 92 camaro fix'n to get a 550 horse motor put in it and i need to change out the rear and and didn't know if this type of rear end needed a set of brakes to go along with it

Re: strange dana 60 question?

OOoooo, THAT is going to a bit of a change.....

If you have the cash, best bet is to order a 12 bolt, or, Ford 9 inch from one of the many companies that build them. It has the advantage of being a direct bolt in. Pricey, but, you would prolly spend about the same trying to get the 60 to work.....

With that kind of horsepower, I would highly recommend things like sub-frame connectors, and some beefier suspension components as well....

Re: strange dana 60 question?

its going to be quite a change, i drove this car around the block once then started ripping things of of it. i've been buying parts little by little including some of the suspension parts that u have mentioned, with that 12 bolt u mentioned being a direct bolt on does that include bolting the brake system back on or do i need to save for that as well

Re: strange dana 60 question?

Check out Moser Engineering. OR Currie.

Pricey, but, I am sure other folks can chime in here as well, with some alternatives. Maybe..... Make sure you are sitting down when looking at prices, and for god's sakes, don't be drinking anything that you don't want to have to clean off your monitor......

Re: strange dana 60 question?

Even I don't need a monster of a diff like a Dana 60. A 9" or 12 bolt is more than enough.

Hey Stephen! I thought you were using an aftermarket rear end???? Did you actually use a Borg Warner 9-bolt at any time??? (Mine just shredded with only 200hp & I had just completely rebuilt it end to end...) Nitro

Re: strange dana 60 question?

My car originally had a 9 bolt. I then swapped in a 10 bolt for a better gear selection. Then I installed a junkyard 9" with ladder bars. The car now has a junkyard homebuilt narrowed 9" with a 4-link
