Shifter problem? maybe?
Last time I went to the track I overshot the shift into 2nd gear and went into 3rd not knowing it until I was watching the Tach and it shifted at 4600 rpms.....It only does it on the shift from First to Second
anyways....it didnt get any better and i am replacing the transmission bc i blew it up......i have a Formula so a megashifter would require alot of fabrication and prety much any aftermarket shifter would. Is there something wrong with the shifter or is it the cable?

Hard to say for sure really. I would probably lean more towards it being the cable. It might be slightly out of adjustment to where it barely stays in 1st. Of course that's the beauty of the aftermarket shifters, in the fact that they have positive stops for each gear. But like you said, with a Formula, it's a pretty significant PITA to modify the console/shift plate to accomodate a ratchet shifter. It has been done though. Try searching. I remember a post some time ago with pictures where a guy put one in his Formula.

Ill try the cheaper route---replacing the cable first.....if thats not it then ill just have to be very careful when racing
