It will work. I bought one from slp about two years ago that was taken out when new. It droped right in.

It will most likely just bolt right in, but you'll need 28 spline axles. Your axles are 26 spline.

Re: 4th gen posi in a 3rd gen rear possible?

You will need to change out to the 88 (or is it 89?) and newer 28 spline axle shafts to run the 4th gen rear. Other than that, it's a bolt in swap.

It's 7.5/7.625". It does the one wheel peel because the LT1 rears had a clutch type posi, whereas the LS1 rears had worm gears instead of clutches.

Re: 4th gen posi in a 3rd gen rear possible?

There should have been a small metal tag attached to one of the bolts that holds the rear end cover to the axle. If it said use LSD addative then yes, or if it is a GM limited slip rear end then yes. I know on the LS car it's a lube of LSD addative and 75w140 synthetic gear oil. Not sure about the LT1 axles though. Just call a dealer if you are unsure what should be in there.
