Ordering 9 inch housing, I have questions
I will be ordering a 9 inch housing soon. I have a few questions before I order. I have a third member from an early 70s pickup. It has 31 splines, so that aspect is covered. I will be running my factory brakes, but I will be using 4th gen backing plates in place of the thirdgen ones. What should I lookout for in respect to my brakes? What about the torque arm? It is the Jegster unit. What else should I be aware of? Where is the cheapest place to order from? Should I get a housing or a housing and axle package?

Housing and axle package. Tell them what brakes you'll be using so they put the proper ends on the axle tubes.

Kind of what I figured. Where is the cheapest place to get the package? I wish I had bought one a few years ago. The prices seem to have jumped a couple hundred dollars since then.

I will check that out. I just want to have all my bases covered before I order. I want to have as little downtime as possible with my car.

talk to bob.....tell him you seen xpndbl3's assembly guide on his website too
I do not believe that the thirdgen backing plates will work at all, you need to buy some LT1 backing plates and run the LT1 discs, which would be the same rotor and caliper as the PBR brakes I "think", but you need the 4th gen backing plates to put on the rear. I bought mine from ebay.

I will actually be using the 4th gen backing plates. Mainly because I have a set that are already off. I saw their site, but I was confused because it didn't list and brake options. The prices are about the same as Spohn's. Did you have to modify the backing plates for them to fit?

xpndbl3, I looked at your site. That is pretty much what I am going for. I also have the jegster torque arm. I am going to try to find your guide and go over it. I remember reading it when I started searching for info.
