Re: how to pull t5 access panel?
If you are referring to the top cover, it is not complicated but, it is not simple either. With the shifter off, you will need to pop out what looks like a cam plug on the tail side. Once inside you will see a steel block that the shifter sits in. There is a roll pin that needs to be pushed out so you can remove the block. Ater the block is removed you should be able to remove the tailshaft housing once all those bolts have been taken out by sliding it back far enough to clear the shifter rail. Once the housing is clear, the top cover should be free to come straight up(or a little to one side or the other). Take note of the pads on the shift forks. If damaged or missing, it won't shift rightand should probably be replaced any way. I'm sure I forgot a step some- where( it's been a long time since the last time), if Sofa is out there I'm sure he can fill in the blanks. hope this helps.

Well It doesn't look like you forgot anything all that looks like it will do it. I was afraid that I would have to remove the tail shaft casing should I reinstall it with rtv? can I use dextron 3?

you can use anaerobic(?)sealer or rtv. I've never had a problem with a Frod product for use on the 7.3 diesels. It is gray in color and sets up very quickly. As far as what fluid to use is up for debate but, AFAIK the dex3 should be one of the candidates.
