rearend making clunking noise

i have a 91 rs with 3:73 and a lsd now when i am letting off the gas it sounds like something is hitting the underside of my car... i put the car in my garage and put it up in the air. now i put it in drive and it was fine rev up the motor and you can hear a lot of noise coming from the rearend. so i pulled off the cover and replaced the fluid put the addative in and cleaned it out. now on the magnetic little piece i had a knot of metal shavings... so i put it back together and am still having the same noise the trans mount looks good... is there anything else i should check or does it sound like the lsd is toast... it is so frustrating please help...

Re: rearend making clunking noise

ok so i swapped out my drive shaft with one i had from one of my other camaros and put it in. while under there i put it in neutral and was moving it back and forth and noticed the same sound when i just barely turned it where the rear tires were not even moving and it sounds like it was coming from the trans... is there anything i can do to fix this... the other thing i noticed was that i can move the wheel back and forth before it starts to move the driveshaft... someone please help me i am loosing my mind...
