another flippen tv cable adjust quest.
im having issues with my darn tv cable. i tied someones method: Press the 'D' shaped lock button on the adjuster and loosen the cable setting (The black housing that the metal cable is in will move forward). Now, have someone floor the gas pedal while you check to see if the throttle plate is open all the way. Usually they are off a little and will wiggle. Do whatever you have to do to get it open solid. Now, with the pedal still floored, press the 'D' button and pull the cable casing (the black tube) back as hard as you can (putting maximum tension on the metal cable) and release the button. You now have the engine, tranny and gas pedal all in sync at WOT. Mark the cable casing so if for some reason it gets moved you can know where to put it again. The problem with the 'self adjust method' is that it bends things and puts them permanently out of whack. It is also the full TV setting, which is theoretically what the GM method does. i tried this and its making my first gear shift at high rpms (3000). whats the way i should do it? also i dont hear any clicks when i open the throttle lever to adjust cable? is my cable done or am i doing something wrong or missing something? i have an edlebrock carb 1406- and edelbrock performer intake. any help is appreciated plz.

Re: another flippen tv cable adjust quest.
Hmmm, I've never heard of that method before.
I prefer to leave the gas pedal out of the equation. It'll adjust by itself after adjusting the TV cable. When you start by pressing the button in, pull the cable backwards (towards the windshield).
Let everything go and then just open the throttle bracket all the way to WOT. You should hear it click a few times. Everything should be perfect.

Re: another flippen tv cable adjust quest.
Please dont do that that will increase your t.v. pressure to max and eat the tranny out. that is only for diagnostics its not made to run over 2mins when pressure is maxed
Re: another flippen tv cable adjust quest.
i know that this is an old thread but just went out and did it. i ended up pulling the cable ratchet out to its fullest which was past the full throttle part. seemed to me like it really messed with the shifting. i went back and did it exactly like that site said to and it has solved most of the too sooon shifting for me.

Okay, bringing it back from the dead. I pushed it in, but when I push the pedle down, the cable doesn't pull the thing back out, nor does it click. What is going on?

Re: another flippen tv cable adjust quest.
first step: push in the "d" and pull the cable back towards the firewall with no throttle input.
step2: right now the metal part should be tight with the throttle closed, open the throttle to WOT, you should hear it ratchet (click) out.
that will be the correct setting. you shouldnt have to mess with it after that.
did you read through the link a couple posts up?

Yes I did. I push in towards that firewall, then go wot and it doesn't ratchet back out.
