changing the tranny mount
hi new to this board
i have a 87 iroc-z 700r4 tranny im about to swap the mount to a poly one! ive been told to jack the tranny up by the tailshaft
this makes me a little nervous. the drive shaft wont pop out or anything making the car roll off the ramps and kill me haha or i wont bend anything on the way up to the engine will i??? just a lil nervous about putting that kinda stress on the line.

Re: changing the tranny mount
Put a piece of wood between a jack and the transmission pan, not the tail shaft. This will support the transmission while you unbolt the crossmember and change the mount. You shouldn't have to take the driveshaft off or anything, you shouldn't even have to lower the transmission. (If you do watch out for the dist. cap) There is no excess "stress" anywhere on the system if you do it right.
It's not a hard job, don't be too worried about it. And by the way you should have blocks behind your wheels when you use those ramps, so theres no way it can roll off even if something crazy happens.

You don't--at least on a T5.
