rearend issue

Car: 83 Trans Am
Engine: 305
Transmission: 700r4
rearend issue
I have an 83 trans am with a 305/700r4 and when the transmission is in park the rear end does not lock and the car keeps moving. When i am under the car and the trans is in park the driveshaft is locked like it should be. Does anyone know what might be causing this, i search and found nothing that pertains to this. I took off the rear end cover , but i am unsure of what to be looking for.

Locking the drivetrain in park is done within the transmission, not the rear end.
