Aluminum Driveshaft

Why does everyone mod out there cars completely but always seem to over look the Driveshaft? You could be ALOT lighter with an aluminum one...But does anyone else know anything other than being lighter that the aluminum drive shaft does?

They are better balanced (eliminating/reducing high speed vibration). The aluminum driveshaft lets you also rev up quicker but also with less mass pushing agains the engine it also slows faster.

Does anyone know how much a new one would cost? Or what's a good deal for a used one? Thanks. John

New ones from GM are like 300-400 bucks. Aftermarket or used are the way to go.

Yes. Compatability is why GM makes so much money. They don't need seperate parts for different setups!

The 1LE d/s is about 2 3/4" in diameter.
The LS1 d/s is about 3" in diameter and both will work. The LS1 is a bit cheaper. Dal can get you a new GM one for about $330 for the 1LE.

Will it fit a 1992 Camaro with the stock manual tranny? I believe mine is a T-5.
